New Year’s Holiday Traffic Update

Final numbers are not yet in from state authorities for the New Year’s holiday travel weekend in Georgia.

As of the last report, which came at 6 p.m. Monday, there had been 10 fatalities on Georgia highways over the New Year’s holiday weekend.

That holiday travel period started at 6 p.m. Friday and was to last through midnight Monday for a total of 78 hours.

None of the traffic fatalities had been reported in the Toccoa or Hartwell posts of the Georgia State Patrol.

However, there were fatal accidents reported so far this New Year’s holiday in both the Gainesville and the Athens posts of the Georgia State Patrol in northeast Georgia.
