The city of Toccoa’s new Municipal Court Judge holds court for the first time.

New Municipal Court Judge Bob Sneed held his first session of city court Thursday at Toccoa City Hall.

The city commission voted unanimously on December 17 to appoint Sneed, a Lithonia lawyer, as the new municipal court judge.

He replaced Toccoa attorney Nina Svoren, who had served as the city’s municipal court judge for the past two years.

According to Toccoa City Manager Mike Jackson, the city interviewed multiple candidates and Sneed’s experience stood out and made him the best person for the job.

Jackson says that Sneed serves as a municipal court judge in 17 cities in northeast Georgia, including Toccoa, and has worked in municipal courts for 21 years.

Sneed currently serves as the Municipal Court Judge for cities including Clarkesville, Mt. Airy, Alto, and Baldwin, among others.
