New Sound System At Schaefer Center

The new sound system at the Ritz Theatre at the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa is complete.

City officials say that the new system was installed two weeks ahead of schedule.

Christian Hamilton with Main Street Toccoa said the new system not only has surround sound for movies and a state-of-the art speaker and microphone system for concerts, but it comes with many other features as well.

“We also have lobby speakers, we have a communication system where we can talk from back stage to the sound booth,” said Hamilton. “We also have something we feel is very important and a service to the city of Toccoa, we have an assisted listening system. For anyone who may have problems hearing, we have 15 listening assistance devices that are wireless.”

Hamilton went on to say that the hope is that the new sound system will help attract more shows to the Schaefer Center.

“This sound system serves as a pull to bring people to the Ritz Theatre at the Schaefer Center,” said Hamilton. “It really elevates the quality and quantity of shows at the Ritz Theatre.”

The sound system cost $96,000 in all. Part of that funding came from a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

Edmonson Technologies of Winterville, Georgia installed the system for the city of Toccoa.
