Toccoa Elementary School has a new principal.

Tuesday, the Stephens County Board of Education unanimously approved Tammy Whitworth as the new principal at Toccoa Elementary School.

Whitworth was formerly an assistant principal at Eastanollee Elementary School in Stephens County.

Former principal David Jacobsen had announced his retirement earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, the school board also unanimously approved the hire of David Cawthon as an assistant principal for one of the county’s elementary schools. Cawthon has been a teacher at Stephens County High School.

In other personnel news, the Board of Education unanimously accepted the resignation of School Nutrition Director Linda Azain effective June 30.
