New Hospital Administrator Settling In

The new administrator at Stephens County Hospital continues to settle in to her role.

Lynne Anderson took over in full for Ed Gambrell on January 1 following Gambrell’s retirement.

In the months prior to Gambrell’s retirement, Anderson worked at the hospital with Gambrell during a transition period.

She said she is getting comfortable now in the administrator position, in part thanks to that transition period.

“I have been enjoying it,” said Anderson. “As I have said numerous times before, I was very fortunate to have an opportunity to transition with Ed Gambrell. It gave me the opportunity to see the history and the inside of things that have gone on. It has made my transition much, much smoother.”

Anderson’s hire was announced by the Stephens County Hospital Authority in May.

At that time, Anderson said she wanted to take time to observe what was going on at the hospital before setting any goals moving forward.

She said she now has had a chance to do that and will soon be meeting with other hospital staff on where the facility goes next.

“I have had an opportunity to meet a lot of the employees and a lot of the physicians,” said Anderson. “Of course, I am continuing to do that because I want to spend one-on-one time with the medical community and get to know them. The next thing for me is to have some strategic planning sessions with the management team and we have got something scheduled for February 5 to have our first meeting like that and we will look at the things I have seen that I want to get some input on in how we go forward.”

Anderson said following those meetings, the hospital will be able to set an action plan for moving forward.
