Municipal Qualifying Ends in Stephens Co.

Qualifying is over for municipal elections in Stephens County.

It ended Friday afternoon.

In Toccoa, Former State Representative Jeanette Jamieson qualified to run for Post 3 on the city commission.  Meanwhile, Toccoa Planning Commission member Evan Hellenga qualified to run for Post 5 on the city commission.

They are both unopposed.

Post 3 and Post 5 are the two seats up for election this year.

Andy Pavliscsak holds Post 3 currently and Ron Seib holds Post 5.

Both previously announced that they would not seek re-election.

Meanwhile in Martin, there will be an election for Mayor as both incumbent Don Foster and challenger Thomas Looney qualified to run for the mayor’s post in Martin.

Also in Martin, incumbent council members Sandra Stovall and Roger Looney qualified to run, with no other candidates qualifying.

Finally, in Avalon, only incumbent candidates qualified for the mayor’s seat and five council member seats.   Avalon’s qualifying ended Wednesday.
