Motorcycle Ride Saturday to Benefit Stephens Humane Shelter

A motorcycle ride set for this weekend will benefit the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter.

The “Ruff Rider” motorcycle ride is set for Saturday in Stephens County.

The FAITH Riders of Toccoa First Baptist Church are helping with the ride.

Dave Palmer is a member of the FAITH Riders.

He said the ride will leave Saturday morning from First Baptist Church in Toccoa.

“We are going to leave First Baptist Church at about 10 a.m. for the ride,” said Palmer. “Registration is open at 9 a.m. The ride will last a couple of hours. We will have lunch back at the church parking lot after the ride is over.”

People can sign up on Saturday morning prior to the start of the ride.

Palmer said the cost to take part is $25 per rider and $10 per passenger. That cost also includes lunch and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Shelter.

He said that other groups from throughout the county are also helping with the ride.

“I would also like to mention that the Cross Bearers Ministry at Christ Fellowship and Born Again Riders at New Hope are also going to assist us with the ride,” said Palmer. “There will be experienced riders guiding the ride around the county.”

As for those who do not ride, Palmer said the shelter will be at the First Baptist Church parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday accepting donations of items to help with shelter operations.

“Particularly things like old towels, batteries to operate some of the equipment, canned dog food so they can give medication to the animals at the shelter,” said Palmer. “They are calling it the ‘Stuff It’ campaign. They are going to have a vehicle there and try to stuff it with all of the donations from the community.”
