Monday Search Leads to Arrest in Stephens Co.

A chase in Stephens County Monday leads to an arrest.

Monday morning, Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley said that deputies surprised two burglary suspects at a residence on Mize Road near Old Mize Road.

Shirley said that while questioning both suspects, one white male ran into the woods eluding deputies after giving foot chase.

The sheriff said a perimeter was set up and K-9 tracking dogs were brought into the area, but the suspect initially evaded capture.

However, Shirley said his office was later able to capture the suspect.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.

The sheriff did say the suspect has multiple warrants including aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, authorities also responded to a motor vehicle accident Monday morning in Stephens County.

It occurred on Falls Road.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating that accident.
