Monday Fire Victim Identified

Authorities have identified the woman killed in a house fire this week in Stephens County.

Stephens County Coroner Chris Stephens said that 56-year-old Shelvy Jean Masters Martin was killed in the fire at her home on Highway 123, east of Toccoa.

Multiple stations responded to the fire at about 10:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 123 in the area of Osborne Wood Products.

According to Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeff Lanier, his department responded, along with Big Smith Volunteer Fire Department in Stephens County and Oconee County, South Carolina Station 10.

There were no other injuries in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Services for Martin will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with interment to follow in Toccoa City Cemetery.
