Mobile Home Taxes Due Today

Mobile home taxes are due today in Stephens County.

Stephens County Tax Commissioner Dene Hicks said that those who pay mobile home taxes must pay those sooner as the due date was moved up a month due to a change in state law.

Hicks said that for several years, that date has been May 1, but legislation from the state has changed it to today, April 1.

According to Hicks, mobile home tax bills went out at the end of December and the change in the due date was noted on those bills.

She said that there are penalties for those who do not pay their mobile home taxes on time.

That penalty, she said, is 10 percent the day after they are due and it is a minimum of $5.

Also, Hicks said that interest accrues just like property tax and one percent interest will be added the day after today as well.

Hicks said that people can pay their mobile home taxes either in person at the Tax Commissioner’s office or online at www.stephenscountytax.com.
