On Thursday, Main Street staff, city officials, and others gathered at Ginger and Company at 45 Doyle Street to dedicate the seventh of ten plaques in te 2015-2016 historic plaque series.

City officials said that the building that Ginger and Company is located in originally housed the Clipper Barber Shop, which called the building home for 42 years.

After the barber shop closed, the building housed a number of other businesses.

Those include a technology store, a loan office, and a clothing store, before Ginger and Company salon moved into the building a few years ago.

The historic plaque program highlights ten historic buildings each year in Toccoa and the remaining plaques are set to follow each month.

City officials said once all plaques have been installed, a walking tour podcast will accompany them to further bring historical awareness to downtown Toccoa.
