City officials and others gathered at Details Salon 73 on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa to unveil the latest historic plaque.

The building has been home to many different types of businesses over the years.

According to Main Street Toccoa, the building originally housed Georgia Power, which was in the building the longest.

The city said the building also was a Western Auto store, a hardware store, variety store, Tae Kwon Do studio, and Whiten’s Shoe Store.

Main Street Toccoa dedicates one historic plaque each month.

City officials said once all plaques have been installed, a walking tour will accompany them to further bring historical awareness to downtown Toccoa.
