Main Street Unveils Latest Historic Plaque

sew fabulousMain Street Toccoa dedicates the latest in this year’s series of historic plaques.

Thursday, the sixth historic plaque in the 2015-2016 series was dedicated at Sew Fabulous at 47 Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa.

According to Main Street Toccoa, the building that Sew Fabulous is located originally housed a Pool Room.

Main Street said that over the years, the building has been home to several women’s clothing stores, several salons and barbershops, as well as a realtor.

The Vander Woude family bought the building in 2004.

Toccoa’s historic plaque program highlights 10 historic buildings in Toccoa each year.

One historic plaque is unveiled each month.

City officials said that once all of the plaques have been installed, a walking tour podcast will accompany them to further bring historical awareness to downtown Toccoa.
