The Toccoa Main Street program continues its historic plaque dedication program downtown.

Thursday, Main Street officials and others gathered at the law offices of Dan Pressley on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa to dedicate the latest plaque.

The office is also known as the Harper Home and Toccoa Main Street Director Connie Tabor said it has been a fixture in downtown Toccoa.

“The Harper Home is known today as Dan Pressley’s attorney’s office and back in 1937, was the home of the Harper family,” said Tabor. “They owned Harper’s 5-and-10 cent store here for about 30 years and this home was also a bed and breakfast and served food for about 15 years. The Pressley’s have done a wonderful job renovating the home and we wanted to give them special recognition for the job they have done.”

The plaque is one of a series that have been unveiled in downtown Toccoa over the past couple of years.

Eventually, Main Street officials have said they want to create a walking tour and podcast to highlight the historic buildings.
