Local NGTC Students Heading to National Competition

May 1, 2013

Two Toccoa students from North Georgia Technical College are among six heading to the national Phi Beta Lambda competition next month in California.

Lisa Hook and Ryan Norton, both of Toccoa, were members of the Parliamentary Procedures team from North Georgia Technical College that won the state Phi Beta Lambda competition in Atlanta last month.

Phi Beta Lambda, or PBL, is the collegiate arm of the Future Business Leaders of America, which is a business career student organization.

Advisor Brad Cagle said he is excited about the potential for the school’s Parliamentary Procedures team to win national awards in California.

Hook and Norton also placed in other state PBL competitions in Atlanta last month. Hook finished 4th place in Word Processing, while Norton finished 5th place in Computer Applications.

North Georgia Technical College Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Mike King said the school is very proud of each student that participated in the PBL competition.
