Little League Update

A loss Monday night drops the Toccoa 10 and 11-year-old All-Star baseball team to 0-2 in pool play at the state tournament.

Toccoa lost to Cartersville 16-2 in five innings Monday in Peachtree City.

Cartersville set the tone early, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.

Toccoa loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning with one out, but Cartersville third baseman Karson Williams snagged a line drive and doubled the runner of third for an inning-ending double play.

Cartersville then plated six more runs before Toccoa could get on the scoreboard.

Isaiah Martin and Jackson Dean had the two Toccoa hits in the game, while Eli Wenger picked up an RBI with a bases loaded walk in the fourth inning.

The Toccoa 10 and 11-year-old baseball All-Stars will play Athens tonight and then wrap up pool play against Murphey Candler Little League Wednesday night. Both of those games are in Peachtree City at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Toccoa 11 and 12-year-old softball All-Star Team’s game against Dudley Little League at the state tourney in Columbus was rained out and will be made up today.
