Little League Update

An improbable comeback puts the Toccoa Junior League All-Star baseball team into the championship round.

Wednesday in Demorest, Toccoa trailed Habersham 11-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning and was three outs from elimination.

However, Toccoa scored nine runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including three runs with two outs, to tie the game at 11, then won it in the eighth by a 12-11 score.

Toccoa had eight hits in the seventh inning, including two each from Ty Kellar and Ben Hobbs, who drove in Kellar with the tying run.

In the eighth, Mason Kimsey scored on Austin Leverette’s single to give Toccoa the winning run.

Ahmad “Scoot” Teasley threw close to 90 pitches on the mound to get the win and also added a double and two runs scored on offense.

The win moves Toccoa into the championship round against Franklin tonight at 7 p.m. at Wilbanks Middle School.

Franklin is undefeated in the tournament, so Toccoa must win twice to win the championship. Franklin only needs to win once.

Meanwhile, the Toccoa Little League baseball All-Stars also remain alive in the elimination bracket as they beat Madison Wednesday in Clarkesville, 20-0.

Toccoa’s Little Leaguers next face Habersham, who lost to Hart 11-1, in an elimination bracket game tonight at 7 p.m.

The winner of the Toccoa-Habersham game will face Hart for the District Little League baseball title.
