Little League Update

Toccoa’s 9-10 baseball All-Stars come up just short in their bid to continue on in the District tournament.

Wednesday in Lavonia, Toccoa lost to Habersham 5-3 in an elimination bracket game.

Trailing 5-2 entering the top of the sixth inning, Toccoa loaded the bases and got one run on an RBI walk by Desmin Teasley.

However, Habersham then got Will Keener out with the bases loaded to end the game.

The game was delayed for well over an hour by rain that moved through the area just after the first pitch.

After the rain, Habersham scored first.

Toccoa came right back and took a 2-1 lead on RBI sacrifice fly from Brady Roush and an RBI single from Grant Babbitt.

However, Habersham tied it at 2 in the bottom of the third and then took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with two more runs before adding a final run in the fifth.

With the win, Habersham advances to tonight’s 9-10 baseball championship round against Franklin at 7 p.m. in Lavonia. Franklin must win once, while Habersham must win over Franklin twice to win the district title.

Elsewhere, Hart won the 10-11 baseball district title with a 6-4 win over Franklin Wednesday in Lavonia.

Finally, Hart also won the 9-10 softball district title with a 10-0 win over Habersham Wednesday in Danielsville.

There are two more district tournaments set to start Sunday.

Those are Little League baseball and Junior League baseball, which are both taking place in Habersham County.
