Lions Beat Indians in Baseball

The Stephens County Indian baseball team wraps up non-region play with a loss.

Saturday, Franklin County jumped out to a 9-1 lead after two innings on the way to an 11-1 victory in five innings over the Indians in Carnesville.

Franklin County scored four runs off Indian starter Dawson Dean in the bottom of the first and then added five more runs off Stephens County pitching in the second.

Meanwhile, the Lions’ Ryan Partin shut down the Indian bats after reliving Franklin County starter Jackson Meadors.

Partin allowed one run in four innings.

The Indians got their run in the second inning when Dylan Simpson doubled and scored when Cole Morgan reached on an error.

Simpson had two of the Indians’ four hits, while Konnor Quick and Jacob Haddock had a hit each for Stephens County.

With the loss, the Indians fall to 4-6 on the season.

Stephens County is now off until Friday when the Indians host White County to open Region 8-AAAA play.
