Lions Beat Indians in Baseball

Franklin County right-hander Blake Wehunt gave up just four singles as the Lions beat the Stephens County Indians on Wednesday night at the Reservation in non-region baseball play, 4-2.

Wehunt went the distance, striking out seven.

The Indians scored an unearned run in the third inning and another unearned run in the sixth inning, but left the bases loaded in the third inning.

Franklin County’s Conner Williams had three hits, and Wehunt, Zac Hill and Jackson Meadors all had RBIs for the Lions, who are now 5-3 on the season.

For Stephens County, Dawson Sorrells went six innings and scattered eight hits before Kole Rogers took over in the seventh inning on the mound to finish out the game.

The Indian baseball team is now 7-4 on the season.

The two teams will play again today in Carnesville.
