Lightwire Theater Comes To Toccoa

A special performance takes the stage this weekend at the Ritz Theatre at the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa.

Lightwire Theater is in town to perform its rendition of “The Ugly Duckling” tonight and on Saturday.

Based out of New Orleans, Lightwire Theater is a theatrical performance that uses music, lights, and dance to tell its story.

The performers all wear light rigs in a pitch-black auditorium, putting off an incredible display of lights while telling its story.

Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said it is a performance that the public should enjoy.

“There are not many shows out there like that,” said Crosby. “They have actually performed on America’s Got Talent and FakeOut and have done very well because they are very unique. We are really looking forward to it.”

Tickets are still available for both shows. Show times are tonight and Saturday, both at 7 p.m.

They are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and are available at the Main Street Toccoa office in City Hall and at the Toccoa Welcome Center in the historic train depot.

Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door the night of each performance.

This performance is also partially funded by the Georgia Council for the Arts, a non-profit organization in Georgia dedicated to showcasing of arts across the state.
