Leap for Literacy Set For Saturday

February 15, 2013

The weather forecast is clear … but cold and windy for Saturday’s annual Leap for Literacy.

The 7th annual Leap for Literacy will take place on Saturday at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa.

People can still make the decision to jump into the cold waters of Lake Louise Saturday afternoon.

Family Connection and Communities in Schools Executive Director Toni Childress said that all money raised through the Leap for Literacy benefits the Read-at-Home program and the Stephens Education Literacy Foundation.

According to Childress, individuals can leap for a donation of $100. All donations are tax-deductible.

Registration for the Leap Saturday begins at 1 p.m. at Lake Louise. The safety lecture is at 1:30 p.m. and leaping will begin at 1:45 p.m.

For more information or to register for the Leap for Literacy, call Childress at 706-886-2880, extension 2010 or call Ellen Alligood at 706-886-6909.
