Leadership Toccoa Graduation Ceremony Held

leadership youthLeadership Toccoa-Stephens County celebrates another group of graduates.

Thursday night, the graduation ceremony for this year’s Leadership Adult and Youth classes was held at the Kimsey Environmental Center in Eastanollee.

Leadership Toccoa-Stephens County Board Chair Tim Quick said it is a program that takes place each year and runs through the Chamber of Commerce.

“The whole purpose of it, in my opinion, is to make Stephens County better,” said Quick. “It is about creating leaders and teaching people that if there are problems and they see issues in Toccoa, they should do something about it.”

Quick went on to say that both the adult and youth classes put in months of time and work each year to go through the program.

“The youth apply for it; it is for seniors,” said Quick. “It starts when school starts in September and they go once a month and we have different classes, personality profiling, government classes, educational classes regarding hospitals and things like that. We do tours, tour industries. The whole purpose is to teach them about what all services Stephens County offers and what needs might be out there. Same with the adults, we take the same the classes with them. Their employers usually recommend them and that is how we get the adults.”
