Leaders and Legacies Banquet Next Month

This year’s Leadership Toccoa-Stephens County class project will honor some area residents and help support the youth of the community at the same time.

The 2015 class for Leadership Toccoa-Stephens County is hosting the first Stephens County Leaders and Legacies Banquet on Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda at the Georgia Baptist Convention Center in Toccoa.

Weslie Clark is a member of the Leadership Toccoa-Stephens County class.

She said the idea is to encourage students in Stephens County to return or stay and contribute to the community by honoring those who have done just that.

“The banquet started as wanting to honor five people in the community who grew up here, who all went to school here,” said Clark. “We wanted to honor them for coming back to Stephens County and continuing to contribute to our community.”

Those being honored at this year’s banquet include Marvin Dunson, Michelle Ivester, Evan Oglesby, Tammy Riddle, and Clint Sanders.

The event is open to the public.

Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple and are available at the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce.

Sponsorships are also available.

Clark said all of the money raised will go into the Stephens County school system to help with needs at the various schools through PTOs and the arts programs at the middle and high schools.

A silent auction will also be held and all donations are tax-deductible.

The deadline to purchase tickets is September 4th.
