A Lavonia woman faces drug charges.
Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle says his office received calls about drug dealing going on in a specific part of town over the past several weeks.
According to Carlisle, that information was coming from some concerned citizens in the Textile Avenue area.
Carlisle says that his office then began an undercover investigation in the area and those investigators were able to develop some leads that involved a certain home on Textile Avenue.
That home belonged to 55-year-old Margaret Ann Pointer.
Carlisle says that during the investigation, officers entered her home legally and determined that she was in possession of methamphetamines.
Carlisle goes on to say that investigators eventually got a search warrant and, with it, uncovered drug-related objects in Pointer’s home.
Pointer is charged with possession of drug-related objects and violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
She was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center and later released on a $25,000 bond.
