Lavonia Holding Vigil Sunday for Law Enforcement

Throughout the week many have been looking for ways to show their support for the Lavonia police force in the wake of Monday’s shooting.

Lavonia Police Chief Bruce Carlisle said Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is planning a candlelight vigil in Lavonia at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.  It has been moved to the Lavonia Elementary School gymnasium because of the threat of inclement weather.

Carlisle said he is hoping for a large turnout Sunday evening.

“I would encourage everybody to show up, show their support for the officers that were injured, the remaining law enforcement officers, and for healing in our community,” said Carlisle.

He went on to say that the event is open to everyone and can maybe help the community begin to heal.

“Our sincere appreciation goes out to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church,” said Carlisle.

The vigil again will be at the Gazebo in Lavonia beginning at 5:30 p.m. this Sunday.
