The Lanier Longhorns scored runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 10-2 win over the Stephens County Indians Friday night in region play at the Reservation.
With the win, Lanier swept the two-game series over Stephens County.
Longhorn senior Matthew Ramsey allowed just two hits over six innings in picking up the win on the mound. Trenton Little pitched the seventh for Lanier.
Josh Slate took the loss for Stephens County, allowing six runs in 1 2/3 innings. Slate gave up just three hits, but walked seven. Evan Rumsey finished out the game for the Indians.
Rumsey and Ben Cleveland had the only hits for Stephens County, getting back to back singles in the third inning.
The loss drops Stephens County to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in Region 8-AAAA.
Meanwhile, Lanier improved to 9-3 in the region and 15-6 overall.
Stephens County is scheduled to return to action today on the road at Monroe Area for the first of a two-game series with the Purple Hurricanes.
First pitch today is scheduled for 5:55 p.m.
