Stephens County drops both ends of a boys-girls doubleheader in Sugar Hill on Monday.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Indians scored just one point in the first quarter on their way to a 37-26 loss to Lanier.
Mya Cleveland led the Lady Indians with 7 points, while LiLi Hester scored 4 points.
Amber Cesair led Lanier and all scorers with 13 points.
The loss drops the Lady Indians to 5-3 on the year.
Moving to the boys’ game, while the Indians fell behind 20-5 after the first quarter, they came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but came up short in losing 58-48 to the Longhorns.
Tavoris Davis led the Indian boys with 14 points while Chris Jones chipped in 10 points.
Simon Shafack scored 19 points for the Longhorns to lead all scorers.
The loss drops the Indian boys to 2-6 on the season.
While Lanier is a region opponent, these games did not count towards the region standings.
Stephens County’s basketball teams return to action on Friday as they travel down to Carnesville to face off against FranklinCounty.
