Lady Indians Win Region Hoops Quarterfinal

February 11, 2014

The Stephens County Lady Indians are in to the state tournament and the Region 8-AAAA semi-finals.

The fourth-seeded Lady Indians defeated fifth-seeded Lanier in Monday’s quarterfinal 54-36 at Lanier High School.

Stephens County’s girls will now play Chestatee in the semi-finals.

Chestatee is the top seed and defeated Monroe Area 53-27, in a report on accessnorthga.com.

In other scores from the region tournament on accessnorthga.com, third-seeded Lumpkin County was upset by sixth-seeded Eastside 46-42 and second-seeded Walnut Grove edged seventh-seeded Madison County 45-42.

That puts Eastside and Walnut Grove in the other semi-final game, with Chestatee, Stephens County, Eastside, and Walnut Grove all earning spots in the state tournament.

Again, the boys’ quarterfinals that were scheduled for today have been postponed until further notice.
