Lady Indians Win, Indians Lose in Oakwood

The Stephens County Lady Indians use a strong second quarter to pull away and pick up their second win of the season.

Trailing 12-6 in the second quarter, the Lady Indians scored 20 straight points to take the lead over Johnson and go on to defeat the Lady Knights 60-34 Friday in Oakwood.

Lexie Cash had a season high 17 points to lead the Lady Indians, while Kaitlan Knight scored nine points and Mya Cleveland and Emily Mote each added eight points.

Leslie Ulloa led Johnson with 12 points.

Stephens County moves to 2-1 with the win.

Moving to the boys’ game, Johnson took the early lead and went on to an 84-41 win over the Indians.

The Knights had three players in double figures as Ty Cockfield scored 25 points, Roderick English scored 19 points, and Ahmad Harrison added 11 points.

Tay Jones led the Indians with nine points and Deandre Singleton added eight points.

The loss drops the Indians to 0-3.

The Lady Indians and Indians are back in action tonight at 6 p.m. at home against Habersham Central.
