Lady Indian Softball in Action Saturday

School just started a week ago, and the Stephens County Lady Indians Softball season is already underway.  Stephens County began the season Monday night with an 8 to 0 win over Banks County at the Reservation.  Tuesday’s road game at Habersham Central was rained out.

Lady Indians Softball Coach Dave Poffenberger says they were glad to get the season started after a long, hot summer.  “We’re just excited that we finally got the season going.  Come on out.  We love your support.  For our first game, we had a great outing…it was exciting.”

Coach Poffenberger says he has a good make-up seniors and under-classmen on this year’s team.  “I do have 6 seniors and each has a very important role in our squad this year.  We’re just excited about that and excited for them.  But we also have a lot of young players as well who are definitely going to help us out on varsity this year, so that’s exciting because we can build on them as well.”

The Lady Indians will be back in action this Saturday at home as they host both Banks County and Hart County—the first game starts at 9 a.m.
