Lady Indian Softball Getting Ready for State Tourney
Stephens County finishes second in the Region 8-AAAA softball tournament.
On Thursday, the Lady Indians fell in the championship game to Jefferson by a score of 6-0.
Mackenzie Rogers took the loss for Stephens County, pitching a complete game and allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out two.
The Lady Indians got to the championship game by defeating Oconee County in the semi-finals by a 3-0 score.
Karly Smith went 2 for 2 and scored two runs against Oconee County, while Emma Whitfield went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Whitfield also pitched a complete game shut out, allowing just three hits and striking out nine.
For the season, Stephens County has an overall record of 20-4.
Next up for the Lady Indians is the state AAAA softball tournament.
Stephens County will be the second seed from Region 8-AAAA and will host the third seeded team from Region 6-AAAA in the first round of the state playoffs for a best 2-out-of-3 series.
That will start on Wednesday.
The game times have yet to be determined.
