The Toccoa Junior League All-Star baseball team drops its opener in the district tournament at the Doyle Street Park in Toccoa.
Franklin County used a two-run home run by Landon Hall in the top of the fifth inning to break open a tie game and Franklin went on to beat Toccoa 5-3 Wednesday.
Gabe White, Aaron Chappelear, and Jonah Chambers all scored runs for Toccoa in the game.
With the loss, Toccoa drops into the elimination bracket to play the Habersham All-Stars tonight at the Doyle Street Park.
Game time is 8:30 p.m. and air time is 8:15 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com.
Meanwhile, the Toccoa 10 and 11 year old baseball All-Stars are district champs.
Toccoa defeated Franklin 11-3 Wednesday in Hartwell to qualify for the state tournament.
Also in Hartwell, the Toccoa 9 and 10 year old baseball All-Stars were eliminated from the district tournament after a close 8-7 loss to Franklin. Franklin will now advance to play Hart for the district title.
Moving to softball action, the Toccoa 11 and 12 year old softball All-Stars lost to Hart 12-1 in the championship Wednesday in Lavonia as Hart will move on to the state tournament.
The 9 and 10 year old district softball championship round is also set as Habersham will face Franklin in Lavonia. Habersham will have to beat Franklin twice.
