Job Fair Next Week in Stephens Co.

The Georgia Department of Labor will host a veterans’ job fair next week in Stephens County.

Toccoa Career Center Manager Greg Pitts said the job fair will be on Thursday, March 26 in the Mitchell Allen Meeting Room at the historic train depot in downtown Toccoa.

“The event will be from 9 a.m. until 12 noon,” said Pitts. “As we said, we are focusing on veterans’ employment opportunities, but it is open for anyone who would like to attend.”

Labor Department officials said the expo will feature about 20 employers, educational institutions, and resource agencies that provide assistance to job seekers.

Among those expected to participate in the expo include: DeVry University, Fenner Dunlop, Field Service Engineering, Georgia Mountains Workforce Development Authority, Herzing University, Homesafe, Lee Arrendale State Prison, McDonald’s, Murphy-Hoffman Company, Portwatch, Ritz Instrument Transformers, Royston LLC, Tenneco, Vet Center, and Walgreen’s.

Pitts said people who plan to attend should come prepared to have an opportunity to get a job that day.

“We encourage people, obviously, to come dressed ready to interview,” said Pitts. “There will be employees there that will interview on the spot. Bring multiple copies of your resume. Come with the attitude that (you) can get a job.”

Pitts went on to say that people who plan to attend Thursday’s job fair need to start preparing now to make sure they are ready.

He said anyone who needs help getting ready for the job fair can stop by the Toccoa Career Center for assistance.

“There are several different ways that they can get a resume put together prior to the event, but do not wait until the day of the event or the day before the event,” said Pitts. “Let’s go ahead and get this done in advance, get prepared. We look forward to it being a big day for job seekers in Stephens County.”

The Georgia Department of Labor’s Toccoa Career Center is located at 37 Foreacre Street in downtown Toccoa.
