Job Fair Friday In Stephens Co.

An annual job fair comes to Stephens County Friday.

It is the eighth annual Northeast Georgia Job Fair and Career Expo on Friday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Currahee Campus of North Georgia Technical College, located on Highway 17 between Toccoa and Martin, in Stephens County.

The Georgia Department of Labor’s Toccoa Career Center organizes the event.

Toccoa Career Center Manager Greg Pitts said they have confirmed that more than 50 employers and resource agencies will be on hand at Friday’s job fair.

Pitts said the Department of Labor is very pleased with the variety of job types that will be on display Friday.

“We have truck driver positions, production positions, welding jobs, clerical positions, stockers, engineering positions, forklift operations, restaurant workers, human resources positions, purchasing agent, maintenance, sales, IT, just a whole variety of jobs,” said Pitts.

Pitts went on to say that there will be other agencies on hand Friday besides employers looking to fill positions.

Among those will be the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission Mobile Workforce Development Unit and the mobile unit from the Veterans’ Adminstration.

Pitts said that people need to come prepared on Friday to get a job because there will be jobs available.

“Come dressed appropriately for a job interview because you may interview that day,” said Pitts. “You certainly will be filling out applications. I am sure interviews will be scheduled. Please bring plenty of copies of your resume and make sure it is updated. It is an excellent opportunity for people to find jobs and go to work.”
