Ivey Meets With President

A Toccoa resident meets with the President of the United States.

Brittany Ivey was invited back to Washington, D.C. Monday to meet with President Donald Trump in the White House as part of a group of people speaking about health care.

Seated next to President Trump for the White House meeting, Ivey shared her experiences with the Affordable Care Act.

Ivey had previously been to Washington to hear the President’s Joint Address to Congress last month as the guest of 9th District U.S. Representative Doug Collins.

Collins invited Ivey because of her experiences and challenges she and her family faced with the Affordable Care Act.

According to Ivey, her premiums under a mid-level plan through the Affordable Care Act took 65 percent of her monthly gross income after a federal subsidy and the plan was not accepted by her or her children’s doctors, opinions she was able to share with the President on Monday.
