Information Released on Fatal Wreck in Habersham Co.

Authorities have released the details of a fatal wreck in Habersham County that happened over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Georgia State Patrol says that the accident occurred at around 9:10 a.m. on Monday.

According to the GSP, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling south on Pea Ridge Road while a farm tractor was traveling north on Pea Ridge Road.

Pea Ridge Road is located west of Cornelia in southern Habersham County.

In its report, the GSP says the Pontiac crossed the center line for unknown reasons and struck the tractor head-on.

The GSP says the driver of the Pontiac, 56-year-old Jerry Glen Fair of Cornelia, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Meanwhile, the GSP says the driver of the tractor, 26-year-old John Kimbrell of Cornelia, was injured and transported to Habersham Medical Center.

This fatality was one of 15 that occurred on Georgia highways during the Memorial Day travel holiday weekend, which went from 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Monday.
