The Stephens County offense pounded out 12 hits, including home runs by Logan Bell and Ryan Cleveland, to lead the Indians to an 11-1 road victory Monday over Chestatee in Region 8-AAAA baseball action.
Bell’s two-run home run started a four-run third inning that gave the Indians a 5-0 lead, while Cleveland’s solo blast led off the top of the fifth after Chestatee had scored in the bottom of the fourth.
Max Thomas also had three doubles and a triple in a 4 for 4 night with three RBIs, while Austin Lord had a double and a triple while going 2 for 4 with two RBIs for the Indians. Josh Slate, Davis McCall, and Kason Sheriff also knocked in runs for Stephens County.
Lord also picked up the win on the mound for Stephens County, pitching four innings of one-run, three-hit ball. War Eagle starting pitcher Peyton Rider took the loss for Chestatee.
The War Eagles scored their only run in the fourth on an RBI single from Griffin Moore that plated Brian Crawford.
With the win, Stephens County improves to 14-3 overall and 9-1 in Region 8-AAAA. Chestatee is now 3-15 overall and 1-7 in region play.
The Indians are off until Monday when they host Eastside at the Reservation in the first of a two-game series. First pitch next Monday is set for 5:55 p.m. with airtime set for 5:45 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG and wnegradio.com.
