Indians Win Homecoming Over Madison Co

Stephens County picks up a win on Homecoming.

The Indians used a big first half to help propel themselves to a 34-7 win over Madison County in Toccoa on Friday night.

Quarterback Jackson Bell threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to pace the Stephens County offense.

Head Coach Frank Barden said the Indians played a strong, well-balanced game and handled Homecoming week well.

“There is a lot going on that day, but Monday through Thursday, we did a great job preparing so I think that propelled us well,” said Barden. “Our kids play hard. They are beginning to get an identity of what kind of football team they want to be.”

Bell threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Curry to get the Indians on the board first early in the first quarter.

A second touchdown pass from Bell, this time a 52-yarder to Kainan Green late in the first quarter, made it 13-0, Indians.

Madison’s only score came on a 1-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter that cut the Stephens County lead to 13-7.

Stephens County got a 5-yard touchdown run from Bell midway through the second quarter and then Hassan Brown added a 4-yard touchdown run before halftime to make the score, 27-7, at the intermission in favor of the Indians.

The only scoring in the second half came in the fourth quarter on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Bell to Malik Feaster.

Stephens County improves to 6-1 on the season overall and 2-0 in Region 8-AAAA.

Madison County drops to 5-2 overall and 0-2 in the region.

During halftime ceremonies, Rosie Knickerbocker, daughter of David and Deborah Knickerbocker, was crowned Homecoming Queen.
