The Stephens County Indian football team will look to rebound from its first loss of the season tonight on the road.
The Indians are making the trip to Monroe Area to take on the Purple Hurricanes in a Region 8-AAAA contest.
Stephens County is 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the region after losing two weeks ago to Chestatee 24-20.
Meanwhile, Monroe Area is 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in the region after defeating Lanier 33-20.
Both teams were off last week and have not played each other since 2007.
Stephens County Defensive Backs Coach Rocky Fulbright said Monroe Area has a lot of team speed.
“They have a great team as far as their skill players go,” said Fulbright. “Their quarterback, running back, receivers were all a part of the 4 x 100 relay state championship team in track. We are really going to have to try and slow them down. They have really ‘big-played’ everybody.”
Kick-off tonight from Monroe Area is 7:30 p.m. Coverage on AM 630 WNEG begins at 6 p.m. with Tommy Palmer’s Countdown To Kickoff. Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage begins at 7:15 p.m.
In other Region 8-AAAA action tonight, Walnut Grove travels to Chestatee, Eastside hosts Lanier, and Madison County visits Lumpkin County.
Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, Habersham Central hosts Meadowcreek, Hart County is at home to play Oconee County, and Franklin County travels to North Oconee.
