Indians Sweep War Eagles

A second strong offensive performance propels Stephens County to a sweep of Chestatee.

Wednesday, the Indians went on the road and used a six-run third inning as a springboard to an 11-1, five-inning win over the War Eagles in Region 8-AAAA baseball play.

Leading 2-1 after two innings, Stephens County sent ten men to the plate in the top of the third inning and scored six runs to make it 8-1.

The Indians then added two more runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth.

Caleb Gastley had three doubles and two RBIs to lead Stephens County, while Konnor Quick, Houston Mullinax, Cole Morgan, and Tristen Powell all each added two RBIs of their own to help out the Indian offense.

Zach Boyd also knocked in a run.

On the mound, Davis McCall went all five innings for the Indians to get the win, allowing just one run and six hits, striking out six and walking one.

Chestatee’s lone run came in the first inning when Brian Crawford’s single scored Eric George.

War Eagle starter Peyton Rider allowed four runs in two-plus innings to take the loss.

Stephens County moves to 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the region with the win.

Meanwhile, the loss drops Chestatee to 8-10 overall and 4-6 in region play.

The Indians are now off until next Wednesday when they travel to face Monroe Area.
