Senior left hander Josh Slate won his fifth game of the year as the Stephens County Indians beat the Lumpkin County Indians 8-2 Monday night at the Reservation.
Slate gave up two runs in 5 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking four.
Mason Long had three hits in the game, including a triple, and drove in a couple of runs.
Long also pitched in relief, getting out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth inning.
Freshman Kooper Briley had two RBIs without a hit, walking with the bases loaded in the second inning and hitting a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
With the win, Stephens County goes to 11-2 on the season and 4-0 in Region 8-AAAA play.
The Indians will travel to Calhoun on Friday for a non-region game. Calhoun is the top team in the state in AA baseball.
