Indians Shut Out Blue Ridge in S.C., 21-0

Stephens County ends non-region football play with a win.

The Indians beat Blue Ridge High School Friday, 21-0, in Greer, South Carolina.

It was a game highlighted by a strong performance from the Indian offensive line as Stephens County ran for more than 250 yards.

On defense, the Indians held Blue Ridge to less than 200 yards of offense and forced two turnovers that led to 14 Indian points.

The Indians got the scoring going on the first play of the second quarter when Jackson Bell found A.J. Howard out of the backfield for a 10-yard touchdown pass to give Stephens County a 7-0 lead.

Gavin Walker recovered a Blue Ridge fumble to set up that score.

Then, a London Harbin interception set the Indians to go 95 yards and score right before halftime on Bell’s second touchdown pass, a 15-harder to Donte Thomas, to make it 14-0, Indians.

In the second half, the Indian offense put together a 17-play, 89-yard drive that lasted more than eight and a half minutes.

Tyreik Cunningham capped that drive off with the Indians’ final score on a 1-yard touchdown run.

The defense took it from there, stopping the Fighting Tigers one last time on downs.

Stephens County also got help on special teams as Brandon Wheeler blocked a field goal.

The Indians are now 2-1 on the year.

They are off this coming week before opening region play on September 25 at North Hall.
