Indians Set 2015 Football Schedule; Add Second Scrimmage

Stephens County High School sets its football schedule for 2015.

The schedule was released recently.

Next year’s schedule again includes a scrimmage with Habersham Central, this time at the Reservation on August 14.

Also, the regular season again begins with Franklin County, this time at home on August 28.

The Indians’ 2015 football schedule also includes home games with Monroe Area, Chestatee, and Madison County, as well as road games with Elbert County, Blue Ridge (South Carolina), North Hall, White County, North Oconee, and Buford.

New on the schedule this year is a second scrimmage with Hart County, at home on August 21.

Indians’ Head Football Coach Frank Barden said they are excited for that.

“It is good to renew that rivalry and get that back in the stadium,” said Barden.

Barden did say that adding a second scrimmage does eliminate the traditional Spring Practice that the team has held in the past.

Even though traditional Spring Practice will not take place, the Indians will get some work in during the month of May.

Barden said the team will work in the last two weeks of May and practice in shorts.

“We really are going to get to have Spring, but not have it in full pads,” said Barden. “That is the difference. As much as we do over the summer now, you get plenty of work.”

Meanwhile, Barden was in his other role as Athletic Director over the weekend when Stephens County High School held its annual Athletic Booster Club Dinner to raise money for the athletics programs at the high school.

Barden said it is a major fundraiser and a big night for the Athletics Department.

However, he said it is also a chance for the community to come together.

“It is a fun night,” said Barden. “It is really something that we can get together and celebrate something positive going on in our community.”

Barden said he appreciates everyone who supported the dinner and supports the athletic programs at the high school.
