Indians Return Home Tonight for Homecoming

After more than a month on the road, the Stephens County Indian football team is finally playing in Toccoa again tonight.

It is Homecoming at the Reservation as the Indians host the Purple Hurricanes of Monroe Area High School.

Stephens County enters the game with a a 3-1 overall record and 1-0 record in Region 8-AAAA after last week’s close, 14-13 victory on the road against North Hall.

Meanwhile, the Purple Hurricanes are 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the region after beating Madison County last week, 49-32.

Stephens County Defensive Backs Coach Kentrell Curry says that Monroe Area is a very talented team with a lot of speed.

Rain is in the forecast for tonight’s game.

Curry said the weather definitely plays a factor in both the game and the preparations.

“You like to know what you can and cannot do in this type of weather,” said Curry. “Hopefully this week, we will be a step ahead of knowing what we can and cannot do in this type of weather.”

Kick-off tonight from the Reservation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Air time on AM 630 WNEG is set for 5:30 p.m. with the Indian Tailgate Show.

Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage from the Reservation starts at 7:15 p.m.

In other Region 8-AAAA football action tonight, Buford hosts Chestatee, North Hall is at North Oconee, and Madison County is at home to face White County.
