Indians Pick Up Third Straight Region Baseball Win

Stephens County returns from its bye and starts off the home stretch of the Region 8-AAAA baseball season with a win.

Ben Cleveland’s one-out grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning ended the game and gave the Indians a 14-4, six-inning win over Monroe Area High School Wednesday at the Reservation.

The game was called due to the ten-run rule.

Zach Boyd and Caleb Gastley also each had two RBIs for Stephens County.

Meanwhile, Davis McCall, Houston Mullinax, Tristen Powell, and Evan Rumsey all each added RBIs of their own for the Indians.

Rumsey also got the win on the mound for Stephens County, scattering five hits and striking out eight in going all six innings.

Meanwhile, Sam Johnson took the loss on the mound for the Purple Hurricanes.

Monroe Area did get RBI hits from Jacob Olsen and Jaelyn Brooks.

The win moves the Indians to 13-8 overall and 8-5 in Region 8-AAAA.

Meanwhile, the loss drops Monroe Area to 8-14 overall and 3-10 in the region.

The two teams will play again on Friday at Monroe Area High School.
