Indians Off Tonight Prior to Start of Region Play

Stephens County High School’s football team is resting this week in preparation for the start of Region 8-AAAA play next week.

The Indians enter their bye week 4-1 after a 23-6 win last week over Hart County in Hartwell.

Assistant Coach Brad Whitfield said they are using the extra week of practice to get ready for the region opener against a challenging St. Pius team.

“We have had four great days of practice,” said Whitfield. “We are getting ready for the option. St. Pius presents a huge challenge with the option game. If you have seen Georgia Tech play, their (St. Pius) offense is very similar to theirs (Tech’s).”

Stephens County will start Region 8-AAAA play on Friday, October 7 with that trip to St. Pius.

Most of Region 8-AAAA is off tonight.

However, there is one game on the schedule. Jefferson will travel to face Madison County in the region opener for both teams.

Elsewhere in the area tonight, Franklin County is at Hart County, Rabun County hosts Banks County, and Habersham Central also has the week off this week.
