The Stephens County Indian football team is off this week after suffering its first loss of the 2012 season.
Indians’ Defensive Ends Coach Kirk Rogers said that Stephens County has used the bye week to refocus with the goal of getting back on the winning track.
“We are trying to get them to play together, practice together, and rally together, and come back to beat Monroe” said Rogers. “That is our only chance to try and finish the year on top is to win the rest of them and let everything else happen the way it is supposed to.”
Stephens County returns to the football field next Friday at Monroe Area in a Region 8-AAAA contest.
Most of Region 8-AAAA is off tonight. The only game is Chestatee facing off with Johnson of Gainesville in a non-region game.
Elsewhere in northeast Georgia tonight, Habersham Central visits Norcross, Franklin County hosts Jackson County, and Hart County travels to face East Jackson.
Meanwhile, in middle school football Thursday, Stephens County’s Rebels defeated Madison County 50-13 in Danielsville.
The Rebels trailed early 13-6, but scored 44 straight points.
Stephens County Middle School is now 4-1.
The Rebels play their final game of the season on October 11 at the Reservation against Wilbanks Middle School of Habersham County at 5:30 p.m.
