Indians Host Madison Co. in Football Tonight

reservationThe Stephens County Indians will look to move to 5-0 on Fall Sports Senior Night tonight at the Reservation.

Madison County will visit Toccoa for a Region 8-AAAA football contest this evening.

Stephens County enters the game with a 6-1 overall record and a region record of 4-0 after beating Chestatee last week, 40-21.

Meanwhile, the Red Raiders will travel north with an overall record of 1-6 and a region record of 1-3 after losing to North Hall last Friday, 56-28. In that game, North Hall had 586 rushing yards against Madison County.

The lone win for Madison County this year came against Chestatee.

Indians’ Offensive Coordinator Roger Gentry said that the Red Raiders are a young football team in some areas.

“I wasn’t sure, but I think they graduated like 30 seniors last year,” said Gentry. “They had a very good football team and this year, they are going some pains and aches and playing some younger kids.”

However, Gentry went on to say that Madison County can put up some points offensively.

“Madison, when you put them on film, they are throwing the ball all over the place, catching the ball, doing a good job,” said Gentry. “Their quarterback is a real threat. He is a good football player.”

That quarterback, David Metts, had more than 400 total yards of offense against Chestatee in the Red Raiders’ lone win.

Kick-off tonight from the Reservation is 7:30 p.m.

Coverage starts at 5:30 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG with the Indian Tailgate Show.

Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage starts at 7:15 p.m.

In other Region 8-AAAA action, North Oconee visits Buford in a battle of the other two top teams in the region, North Hall visits Monroe Area, and White County is at Chestatee.
