Two area rivals square off in battle of the unbeatens tonight at the Reservation.
The 2-0 Stephens County Indians will square off tonight at home against the Hart County Bulldogs, who are also 2-0 on the season, in a non-region contest.
Stephens County is coming off of a 49-14 win over Habersham Central last week, while HartCounty defeated Blessed Trinity 28-16.
Last year, the Indians jumped out early and built a lead of more than 20 points on one occasion before holding off a late HartCounty charge for a 49-39 Indian win in Hartwell.
Stephens County Offensive Line Coach Brian Johnson said HartCounty is an athletic team that will prove to be a stern test for the Indians.
“We saw last year, they are never out,” said Johnson. “They are very explosive. We are going to have to play a very good game.”
Kick-off at the Reservation tonight is set for 7:30 p.m.
Tonight is a “black-out” at the Reservation and all Indian fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.
Meanwhile, coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. on AM 630 WNEG with the Indian Tailgate Show. At 7 p.m., it’s Coach’s Corner and at 7:15 p.m., pre-game coverage begins leading up to kickoff.
In other area action tonight, Habersham Central begins region play on the road at Collins Hill, while Franklin County hosts Lanier in a non-region game.
